Conversations with Nitin Potdar
At Chambers of Nitin Potdar, we believe that mentorship plays a crucial role in shaping the careers of young legal professionals. #ConversationswithNitinPotdar is a dedicated mentorship initiative designed to support law students and young lawyers by providing online personalised guidance, career insights and professional development strategies. This programme is built on the idea that direct, meaningful conversations can help aspiring legal professionals navigate challenges, refine their goals and gain practical wisdom from real-world experiences.
I am so pleased to share that #ConversationsWithNitinPotdar has grown into a thriving community with law students from across India, representing diverse backgrounds and law schools. It is truly inspiring to see such enthusiasm, curiosity and a shared passion for learning.
When I started, I had just one simple goal — to create a space where law students and young lawyers could get personalised mentorship, ask real questions and receive practical career guidance.
Today, I am truly humbled to share that this initiative has grown to over 300 students. This will now be followed by cohorts, in which I intend to invite other senior lawyers, partners and industry experts.
Purpose of the Programme
This is not just another legal discussion group — it is about personalised, one-on-one mentorship through chats and select discussions, where I aim to:
- Understand your challenges
- Answer your career-related questions
- Provide some clarity on navigating the legal profession
There is still a long way to go, and I know I cannot solve everything — but I am conscious of the limitations of this format and still trying my best to be available on the crucial issues that matter to you.
How to join
Please connect with me on LinkedIn. All you need to do is introduce yourself and share two pressing questions you are facing in LinkedIn Messaging, and my team will revert.
The Journey Continues
I believe that guidance at the right time can change lives. If you are a law student or a young lawyer trying to find direction, know that you are not alone. Keep learning, keep asking questions, and most importantly, keep moving forward.
Let us build a strong, supportive and thriving legal community together.
5 Simple Rules for Mentoring
Dear law students,
To ensure this mentorship initiative is productive and meaningful, here are a few simple guidelines:
- Read & Reflect — I post short blogs, insights and guidance notes that offer clarity on career decisions, legal practice and professional growth. Read them carefully, think them through, and apply them where relevant.
- Keep It Simple & Actionable — My goal is to keep my advice concise, practical and easy to implement. The best way to benefit from these posts is to take action rather than just read passively.
- Engage on LinkedIn for Broader Discussions — These insights are also posted on LinkedIn. If you have questions or thoughts that may help others, please post them there rather than in private messages, so more students can learn from the discussion. If your question is personal or specific, message me directly.
- No Spam, Only Learning — This platform is for focused mentorship. Please avoid unnecessary forwards or unrelated discussions, to keep the space meaningful for everyone.
- Be Patient & Stay Committed — Mentorship is a two-way process. I will do my best to respond and guide you, but I also appreciate your patience. This is about long-term growth, not quick fixes.
